Kevin Is Still Enjoying His Cheese Pizza, Blu-Ray Style
What could be better than celebrating the holiday with a favorite family comedy? (Well, minus the family.) Obviously watching it on Blu-ray! Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment is releasing Home Alone on Blu-ray December 2nd.
8-year-old Kevin McAllister (Macaulay Culkin) is accidentally left home alone when his family takes off for a trip to France without him. But it’s no big deal; Kevin can cook, clean and even shop for groceries. He enjoys his chance to be able to watch any movie he pleases, eat whatever he wants and sled down the stairs. But his fun is cut short when he realizes two clumsy burglars are targeting his home. Armed with a BB gun and a pet tarantula, Kevin is ready to do whatever it takes to defend his ground, and have some fun doing it.
It’s very exciting to see the latest films hit the Blu-ray stand, but who can resist a nostalgic and timeless classic making it to this new format? One of the best parts about an old favorite coming to Blu-ray are the bonus features. This disc will really bring you back in time with seven featurettes: The Making of Home Alone, Mac Cam – Behind the Scenes with Macaulay Culkin, How to Burglar-Proof Your Home – The Stunts of Home Alone, Home Alone Around The World, Where’s Buzz Now, Angels with Filthy Souls and a 1990 press featurette. You’ll also get audio commentary with director Chris Columbus and Macaulay Culkin, deleted scenes and, my personal favorite, a blooper reel. It’s too bad Blu-ray wasn’t around back when I was a kid. Considering this film would constantly be watched, rewound and watched again, I’m sure my parents would have appreciated this extra material.
Nobody can say no to some good holiday laughs. The fun this film can bring a family is certainly worth the $34.99. And it’s educational as well. I know I’ll never buy a toothbrush again without checking if it’s been approved by the American Dental Association.
