Let Me In Will Knock On Your Door This February
Hollywood may be obsessed with remaking the past thirty years' worth of its own releases, but they've been pilfering from our global neighbors for years. The horror genre is especially guilty of this, with movies like The Ring and The Grudge taking foreign concepts and repurposing them for American sensibilities, often with a cast of fresh-faced up-and-comers. Sometimes it works; sometimes it's a train wreck. When word came that Cloverfield director Matt Reeves would be helming a remake of the much-lauded Swedish film (and originating novel) Let the Right One In, fans were understandably nervous. Cloverfield was a love-it-or-hate-it affair, and his prior resume didn't necessarily inspire confidence. Thankfully, Reeves got it right. Our own Josh Tyler gave Let Me In four out of five stars, echoing a critical consensus that has the movie sitting at an 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
If you missed it in theaters, now's your chance to see what everyone was talking about. Anchor Bay Entertainment will release Let Me In on Blu-ray ($39.99) and DVD ($29.98) this February 1st, 2011. Both versions of the film will include a moderate selection of bonus features, with the Blu-ray including an extra featurette.
