Madagascar Continues To Move It Move It On The Charts
It would appear the era of Obama’s change has arrived, with the price being paid by the former president. Even an Oliver Stone look at George W. Bush’s life couldn’t top the appeal of animated animals and live action dogs in space.
Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa was the top runner on the national home video sales charts for a second week in a row (week ending February 15th), taking top honors away from a slew of new releases in both DVD and Blu-ray categories. The Richard Gere romantic drama, Nights in Rodanthe came in second, with Disney’s Space Buddies in third spot, and Stone’s biopic, W., coming in fourth.
On the rental side, Stone didn’t fare much better, although Nights in Rodanthe did, taking the top spot for the week in rentals, followed by Madagascar, Lakeview Terrace, and then Bush’s story in fourth place again.
Holding onto high spots is quite an accomplishment for Madagascar 2. While children’s animated stories typically do well the week of release, they fade out quickly.
