It’s hard to believe Peter Jackson and Universal could possibly extend King Kong any farther, after all the remake already doubles the length of the original film, expanding every section of the storyline. Yet November 14th we will get the Extended Editon of Jackson’s latest film, including an added 13 minutes of movie and over 40 minutes of unseen deleted footage.

Similarly to Jackson’s Lord of the Rings movies, the Extended Edition will be available as just the three disc set, or in a limited gift set that includes a Weta created figurine of Kong.

According to Universal, the movie and bonus material will be divided among the discs as such:

That’s a lot of bonus material… almost makes me wish I hadn’t bought last year’s release. At the same time, I’m not sure my rear can take even thirteen more minutes of movie. Kong is great, but it’s long.

King Kong: Deluxe Extended Edition comes to DVD on November 14th.
