Muppet Show Season Two Finally Gets Release Date
For Muppet fans like myself, the release of “The Muppet Show” Season One was one of the best DVD releases ever. Although the show had previously gotten some DVD exposure thanks to Time Life’s “Best of” series, this was finally a chance to see all of the episodes – not just the ones deemed most popular.
Since that season one release however, word on season two has been slow. A few months after Season One, Disney gave fans a chance to pick the artwork for the season two release, selecting between several options. The survey stayed up for months past the announced end though, with no updated information. Finally the waiting and speculation has come to an end. Season Two of “The Muppet Show” will be released on August 7th, 2007.
Season two had some great guests, including Don Knotts, Milton Berle, Edgar Bergen, Steve Martin, Madeline Kahn, George Burns, Julie Andrews, and John Cleese. As always with DVD though, it’s not just the content that’s of interest – it’s what is included. For the season two release we’re getting the recent Weezer “Muppet Show” video, the original Muppets Valentine Show pilot, and interviews with the Muppets, with a big “and much more” attached to the release announcement. Heck, my only real complaint about this release is that it took too long to get here… and that the box art doesn’t match the first season box, already making the sets a hodgepodge instead of giving them a matching look.
Check out the tentative box art below and cross your fingers that it doesn’t take as long for season three to get here.
