Party Like It's 1986 With Hot Tub Time Machine On Blu-Ray And DVD
Based on its name alone, Hot Tub Time Machine could easily have fallen prey to the Snakes on a Plane problem of the idea being much funnier than the execution. Thankfully, the ridiculous managed to be sublimely funny, combining a bizarre cast, a ludicrous concept, and more '80s in-jokes than even Doc Brown could count to make one of the funniest movies of the year so far. Now Fox has announced that you can climb back into the Hot Tub and let those soothing tachyons work out all your aches and pains this June 29th.
Comedy releases aren't usually known for their expansive special features, and Hot Tub Time Machine isn't exactly bucking the trend. The Blu-ray will get you a digital copy and a few theatrical promo spots that the DVD version won't, but I'm not sure those are worth paying $39.99 for the BD when the DVD is 10 bucks cheaper. Do you really need pristine picture and sound quality for Hot Tub Time Machine? Is capturing every nuance of the light dancing off Rob Cordry's head that important to you? I also can't help but notice that whoever named these promotional spots went to the Eight Legged Freaks school of hyphen usage...
