Pick Of The Week: Choke
It’s not a great week for home entertainment. Sure, there’s some decent stuff coming out, but I think Ed’s High School Musical 3 review sums up the week nicely in one word: Harmless. You have your family entertainment (HSM 3), your near-Oscar contenders (Changeling), and your direct to video sequels (Still Waiting), but nothing here is spectacular.
You will notice one movie missing from this week’s list, even though it’s coming out on DVD. We’re doing that at the artist’s request, not even mentioning the movie here (although you can click the link if you want more information).
The pick of the week this week is another one of those movies you should have seen in 2008, to the point that we chastised you about it at the end of the year. Choke hits DVD this week and is definitely one of the most twisted movies I’ve seen recently, and serves as proof that you don’t need blood, guts, and gore to put out a demented film - just a lewd protagonist with few redeemable qualities, and a story compelling enough to keep you watching despite that. If you don’t feel like putting forth the money to check it out, you still have time to enter our Choke DVD Giveaway.
