Revised Release Info For Alvin And The Chipmunks
A couple of days ago I reported on the upcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of Alvin and the Chipmunks, pondering about the possibility of the April 1st release date meaning any of the details being a joke. Well, it turns out there may have been an unintentional joke, as Fox has released new details about the set that have significantly pulled back what will be included.
Previously announced in separate single disc, two-disc special edition, and Blu-ray editions, the revised information from Fox has pulled the two-disc edition entirely. That’s right – the big enchilada for the movie is gone. That means a lot of the previously announced bonus material won’t be released, including the two exclusive iTunes downloads. The revised press release also fails to mention anything about the digital download copy for use on an iPod or laptop, so I’m assuming that’s gone as well.
So, now Alvin and the Chipmunks will be released on April 1st in single disc and Blu-ray editions. Here’s a revised look at the bonus material that will be included. Note that it reads almost identical between editions, which means other than a few trailers and a more pristine picture, you’re really not getting much more bang for your high definition buck.
- DVD bonus material
- Chip-Chip-Hooray! Chipmunk History featurette
- Hitting the Harmony featurette
- Inside Look at Horton Hears a Who
Blu-ray bonus material - Chip-Chip-Hooray! Chipmunk History featurette
- Hitting the Harmony featurette
- Several high-definition trailers
