The Sands Of Time Blow Onto Blu-Ray And DVD This September
So, did Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time finally break the Crappy Video-Game Movie Curse? Well, it didn't blow anybody's doors off, but let's focus on small steps, shall we? If we're eventually going to get a kick-ass big-budget HALO or BioShock movie, by all means let them work the kinks out with high-profile projects like Prince of Persia, even if the end result is only a middling creative success (though it did just fine at the box office). And let's be honest here: compared to the other video-game movies we've seen, Prince of Persia deserved a freakin' Oscar, if not a Nobel Prize.
Jake Gylenhaal's Parkour-running, chest-baring, uncannily Persian ass will be somersaulting onto Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download September 14th from Walt Disney Home Video. As is the standard with tent-pole releases like this one, it's coming in a variety of formats: a three-disc combo pack, a one-disc Blu-ray, and a one-disc DVD. The special-features breakdown is a little odd in the press release, with each step up a tier adding a single extra until you get to the three-disc set, where the real goodies are.
