Saturn Nominations Recognize A Range Of Categories
The Saturn Award Nominations are out for the year and I have to admit they're a little less exciting in the DVD section than in other sections. I mean, The Dark Knight leads the nominations for the theatrical categories, but in the Best DVD Release category we get Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer and Starship Troopers 3? Even devoted fans have to admit the home entertainment categories listed below pale in comparison to television and theatrical nominations.
A lot of the DVD categories have some pretty clear front runners. I can't imagine anyone but Dark Knight taking DVD Special Edition honors (even though this was only its first release and the new cut of Dark City probably deserves it more), while Spaced has just about all of the other retro television series releases beaten hands down, especially considering the amount of extras the Simon Pegg BBC series brings with it. Then again, would you want to have to choose between Lost and Doctor Who for best television series release?
Check out the full list of DVD categories listed below. The actual awards celebrate their 35th anniversary this year when the awards are presented on June 25th.
