Saw's Final Chapter Gets A Final DVD Release Date
If there's one thing the '80s taught us, it's that final installments of horror franchises are like Rolling Stones farewell tours...as long as there's money to be made, "final" is a term given to a certain looseness of interpretation. Nevertheless, this past October's bandwagon-jumping Saw 3D has been given a January release date and assigned the confident marketing moniker of Saw: The Final Chapter. Come January 25th, 2011, you'll be able to add The Final Chapter to your DVD shelf next to the likes of Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday, and Freddy's Dead.
Unsurprisingly, the "final" Saw installment will be available on every format Lionsgate can conceivably get money for, including a Blu-ray combo pack ($39.99), a 3D Blu-ray combo pack ($49.99), a regular DVD ($29.95), as a digital download, and via On Demand. Both the Blu-ray and DVD versions include director and producer commentary, deleted scenes, and some music videos. If you prefer your carnage in high-def, the Blu-ray versions will add a "52 Ways to Die" featurette looking back at the franchise's memorable traps and kills. What better way to celebrate the early days of 2011 than by watching people get murdered 52 different ways?
