Shrek The Third Smashes DVD Sales
The ogre has arrived and smashed the competition, as Shrek the Third launched its DVD release with sales that rocketed past the other releases for the week and into competition with the other releases for the top-10 DVD sellers for 2007. That’s a lot of DVDs.
Family entertainment as a whole held strong, however, as Disney’s Ratatouille held onto second place, beating out Danny Ocean and his gang’s third adventure, with Ocean’s Thirteen taking third place for the week ending November 18th, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The same three movies dominated the high definition side of things as well, with Shrek the Third taking top honors on HD DVD side and outselling Ocean’s Thirteen three-to-one. ”Oceans also took second place on the Blu-Ray side of things, with Ratatouille holding on to the number one spot.
On the rental side, Home Media Magazine lists Shrek as the rental winner as well, beating out Oceans Thirteen for top rentals as well. I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry slid down to third place for the week.
