Spartacus Coming To Blu-Ray With 50th Anniversary Edition This May
I mentioned over in my FlixWorthy column how much fun I'm having with Starz' new Spartacus: Blood and Sand series. Still, while that show is very much trying to be its own thing, it can't help but walk in the shadow of Kirk Douglas. After all, he's almost single-handedly the reason why most people have even heard the name Spartacus. With that classic film's 50th anniversary rolling around this year, Universal Studios Home Entertainment is bringing Spartacus to Blu-ray.
It's not the first time Spartacus has received the high-def treatment. Universal released an HD-DVD version back in 2006. We all know how that worked out. It looks like some of the special features on this Blu-ray edition may overlap with the snazzy Criterion edition, but it's hard to tell just from the bullet points. Here's what your $26.98 will net you (aside from a pristine copy of the epic film itself, of course).
