The Stepfather: Evil Comes Home On DVD In February
Is your mom dating someone new? I’m sure he’s nice guy, but to avoid making you paranoid, I’d advise passing on this new release. On February 9th, Sony Picture Home Entertainment will release The Stepfather on DVD and Blu-ray.
When Michael Harding (Penn Badgley) comes home from military school, his home isn’t how he left it. Well, his room is still intact and his loving girlfriend (Amber Heard) there to welcome him back with open arms, but so is David Harris (Dylan Walsh), his mother’s (Sela Ward) new boyfriend. Everyone is smitten by David, but Michael has a hunch that something isn’t right with his stepfather-to-be.
The Stepfather isn’t perfect, but neither is the 1987 original. Still, both are pretty entertaining. If you’re looking for a fun and freaky thriller, this is a perfect option. No word on prices yet, but Shock Till You Drop’s got the specs and the box art. Both the BD and DVD will come with commentary with Badgley, Walsh, and director Nelson McCormick; “Open House: Making the Film”; “Visualizing the Stunts”; a gag reel; and “Too Friendly.” The box art is a little strange -- Ward looks like she’s going to puke and Badgley and Heard are a little overdramatic -- but thanks to the inclusion of a gag reel, that fault can easily be overlooked. I’m in!
