The TV Set On Your DVD
I’m a big fan of watching the entertainment industry turn its lens on itself. While there are certainly a lot of us who criticize the industry – for good or for bad – the truth is nobody knows the way entertainment works than those who have to fight their way through the system on a regular basis. With that in mind, I’m really interested in the satirical film The TV Set, which comes to DVD on September 25th.
The comedy stars David Duchovny as a writer who attempts to navigate his television pilot through the network process, which becomes a bit of an uphill battle to maintain his ideas while fighting all the other agendas and personalities involved. Sigourney Weaver, Ioan Gruffudd, Judy Greer, and Justine Bateman co-star as those personalities with those agendas.
If you’re like me, you probably haven’t heard much about The TV Set, which saw a limited theatrical run (19 theaters) from Thinkfilm earlier this year. Fox Home Entertainment is taking care of the home release, and the fact that they are already promoting this September release gives me some hope for this to actually be a decent flick.
The DVD release will include an audio commentary, deleted scenes, and a making-of featurette.
