Take Another Wrong Turn Only On DVD
Somehow Eliza Dushku’s Wrong Turn seemed like a perfect match for being a direct to DVD movie, despite its theatrical run (or maybe because of it – only breaking $15 million domestically). Since it seemed suited for DVD, I guess I can’t complain too much that Fox is following up the back-woods horror flick with a direct to DVD sequel. Wrong Turn 2: Dead End is headed for horror aficionados’ home theaters everywhere on October 9th.
The story is a little different than a flat out sequel, however, as the premise behind the movie is very different than someone taking a “wrong turn”. This time the plot centers around a reality show taking place in the West Virginia woods, titled “The Apocalypse: Ultimate Survivalist”. The contestants of the show find themselves fighting for more than just the title of Ultimate Survivalist when the inbred cannibals from the first movie show up.
The movie marks the directorial debut of Joe Lynch, but the cast is far from new to the horror scene: Erica Leerhsen (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2), Texas Battle ( Final Destination 3), Daniella Alonso ( The Hills Have Eyes II, Hood of Horror), Crystal Lowe ( Black Christmas, Snakes on a Plane), and Aleksa Palladino ( The Ring Two). If that’s not enough, Henry Rollins is also a part of the cast.
The movie is only available as an unrated version, which means it wasn’t submitted to the MPAA for ratings approval. The bonus material will include:
- “More Blood, More Guts: The Making of Wrong Turn 2: Dead End” featurette
- “Making Gore Look Good” featurette
- “On Location With P-Nut”
- Feature commentary by director Joe Lynch and actors Erica Leerhsen and Henry Rollins
- Feature commentary by writers Turi Meyer and Al Septien
- Wrong Turn 2: Dead End Trailer
Wrong Turn 2: Dead End hits shelves on October 9th.
