Test Your Palate With Bottle Shock On DVD
Guard your wine bottles because Bottle Shock is coming to DVD on February 3rd. This tale of winery and American spirit rocked the Sundance Film Festival and will be the perfect companion with a glass of wine on a cold winter night.
Steven Spurrier’s (Alan Rickman) wine shop is in a rut, so he decides to venture out to the California wine country to find some hidden treasures. He puts together a competition between his homeland, France, and the Americans to find out who makes the best wine. What begins as a publicity stunt turns into an epic event that changes the history of wine forever. The film’s plot is based on the true event known as “The Judgment of Paris”, which is responsible for making Napa Valley a reputable wine-producing region.
Director Randall Miller has put together an engaging and dramatic film sprinkled with spots of eccentric humor. The DVD will give you some of his perspective, as well as a number of other individuals who worked on the film, in the bonus commentary. The DVD extra list also includes a making of featurette, “Chateau Montelena: One Winery’s Search for Excellence” featurette and some deleted scenes. If Bottle Shock makes your mental taste buds jump for more wine you may want to grab “The Perfect Pairing.” This special edition set includes both Bottle Shock and Sideways, which will provide you with more than enough quirky comedy mixed with some fermentation.
The single DVD version will cost you $27.98. If you want “The Perfect Pairing” that will cost you $29.98. I don’t care how much wine you’ve consumed, it’s obvious that the two-film package is the better value. And, the fact that they’re two great movies doesn’t hurt either!
