Treme Celebrates A Blu-Ray/DVD Release This March
HBO's Treme had a helluva bar to live up to. Created by David Simon and Eric Overmyer, the show is Simon's first regular series since working together on the justifiably acclaimed The Wire (he took a brief detour through HBO's Generation Kill miniseries). The subject matter that drew him back to a regular engagement on the small screen: the story of musicians, chefs, and other ordinary folks living in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The show is steeped in the music and culture of The Big Easy, and sports a praiseworthy cast including John Goodman, Steve Zahn, Wendell Pierce, Melissa Leo, and David Morse. It's a complicated, layered show, and it definitely isn't turn-your-brain-off viewing, but for those who stuck with it, it was an amazing first season.
HBO and Warner Home Video have announced that Treme will be coming to Blu-ray and DVD March 29th, and you can check out the box art below. The set extras will include audio commentary and behind-the-scenes featurettes. No details yet on just what those will entail, but anything more than a bare-bones release is good news.
