Yo, That's A Lot Of G.I. Joe!
Brace yourselves, G.I. Joe fans, because something big is coming to DVD on November 10th. Courtesy of Shout! Factory, you can own the entire G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero animated series as part of an impressive 17-disc limited-edition collector’s set.
Piggybacking on the successful Hasbro action hero toyline, G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero premiered as a five-part miniseries in September of 1983. A second miniseries, subtitled The Revenge of Cobra, aired in 1984, followed by the regular series in 1985. The show’s second and final season concluded in November of 1986. The show may have ended, but Duke, Scarlett, Snake Eyes, Flint, Lady Jaye, and the rest of the members of America’s special missions force live on.
This whopping 17-disc set is the ultimate salute to the fans. It comes with all 95 episodes of the series as well, as a special collectible book, a 1-GB ‘Dog Tag’ Flash Drive (USB 2.0) with G.I. Joe silent comics and Arashikage and Cobra rub-on tattoos. On top of that, there are a number of featurettes dedicated to looking back at the iconic series, like “Men & Women of Action: Creating the G.I. Joe Animated Series,” about how the show came to be, and “Voices of A Real American Hero,” a roundtable discussion with members of the voice cast. To top it all off, the set comes in a deluxe footlocker case with a special spot reserved for the G.I. Joe animated movie set, due to be released on DVD next year.
$179.99 is a hefty price, but it’s justified with over 36 hours of content. Check out the complete list of bonus material below.
