3 Perfect Actors Who Could Play Nathan Drake In The Upcoming Uncharted Movie
There have been a number of rumors flying around about who is going to play the ever-so-charismatic and charmingly sarcastic Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie. Well, we wanted to weigh in on exactly who we think deserves the role the best, after having played all of the Uncharted games.
According to the IMDB page for the 2017 Uncharted film, Jensen Ackles has already been rumored to be in the running as Nathan Drake, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, but that's all speculation still. While he is still filming Supernatural, it's very possible he could double up the screen time to squeeze in his role as Nathan Drake. What we like best about this match is his perfectly snarky attitude and playful personality that goes right along with what we know of Nathan Drake. Although, I think we'd have to see him soften up just a tiny bit from his brooding, tortured role as Dean Winchester in order to successfully transition to Nathan Drake's more light-hearted attitude. I totally think he could rock this role.
There probably couldn't have been a more perfect role for Gerard Butler. He's got the look, he's got the bod and he's got the attitude. Not convinced? Just watch him in The Bounty Hunter and The Ugly Truth. What Jensen Ackles lacks, Gerard Butler wholly picks up on; his light-hearted and chewy, soft center. This is probably the one thing we love most about Nathan Drake, the fact that even in the heat of a battle, he will always think of Elena first. That anger isn't really a part of his vocabulary, but retaliation and action is. And while Butler has played some pretty angry roles, we've also seen him at his softest, right in line with Nathan Drake.
Jeremy Renner might surprise you as our number one pick, but it all started when I was watching Captain America: Civil War just a couple months ago and Hawkeye flew onto the set with his snarky sarcasm and his impeccable timing with the perfect comments. I sat there and it hit me upside the head. Holy crap, he reminds me so much of Nathan Drake! Throughout gameplay, Drake will inevitably spout comment after comment to make light of whatever death-defying situation he's gotten himself into, and Hawkeye kind of does the same thing. Even though the looks aren't exactly spot on, this guy acts so much like Nathan Drake, it's scary. It's almost as if he's Nathan Drake in real life, playing as Hawkeye in a movie.

Chris Pratt was actually offered the role of Nathan Drake, but he turned it down. I don't think it would've been a good fit anyways. Nathan Fillion is also in the running for the role, but I also strongly disagree with this casting choice. While he does have the looks of Nathan Drake down to a science and that playful personality we all love about Drake, I think it's something I'd have to get used to, the idea of him playing one of my favorite video game characters of all time. It's definitely doable, but I'd really have to think about it. The Uncharted movie is set to be released sometime next year, so hopefully we'll be hearing more details about the film soon.
