What To Expect From The Newest Fallout 4 Update
The post-apocalyptic world of Fallout 4 continues to evolve with Update 1.6, bringing in a number of new features as well as some fixes for nasty bugs. Also, for those of you who were out of luck since the game's launch, there's a chance your helper robot, Codsworth, will now know how to say your name.
Bethesda announced the arrival of Update 1.6 yesterday afternoon on the Fallout 4 blog. According to the details, this latest batch of in-game tweaks is currently available for the PC crowd and will be bolted onto the Xbox One version of Fallout 4 next week. It looks like the team is still "working on timing" for the PS4 patch, but they plan to update everyone soon via that same post once they've nailed down a date.
So, here's a quick rundown of what you can expect out of Fallout 4 Update 1.6.
New Features
-ExitSave - Exiting to the main menu will create an ExitSave. During next play session, the ExitSave will delete itself after you load it. The ExistSave works in all difficulty levels including Survival.
-New add-on specific icons in Workshop mode
-More than 300 new player names added to Codsworth's vocabulary
-Support for upcoming add-ons

-"Boston After Dark" quest now completes properly when waiting for Old Man Stockton
-Fixed occasional issue where player would become permanently invisible
-Dead settlers can no longer be commanded or assigned to supply lines
-Fixed issue where deleting saved games would cause other saves to disappear
-Fixed occasional issues with activating mods that did not come from Bethesda.net
-Minor bug fixes and optimizations to Mods load order and browsing
That's a pretty nice list of tweaks, many of which should help get Fallout 4 ready for the impending content updates. There's still a Vault-Tec Workshop planned for later this month, with the Nuka-World expansion dropping into the wasteland sometime this August. It's going to be a busy summer for Vault Dwellers.
As mentioned earlier, Codsworth's vocabulary has received a healthy upgrade with an additional 300 names added to his arsenal. Sadly, a list of those names is not available, but it's worth checking out if your desired name was not part of the original game.
Another nifty feature is the ExitSave, which creates a temporary save file whenever you need to exit to the main menu. When you return to the game, that save file will then delete itself.
As for the bug fixes, it looks like Bethesda did some nice house cleaning in Fallout 4, especially squashing the bug that made characters permanently invisible or deleting extra save files for now reason.
