Blizzard Is Giving Out Christmas Gifts In Overwatch
In a game where trying to find the next loot box with something useful can sometimes be a pain, it's probably nice to find out that Blizzard is giving out Christmas gifts in Overwatch. The company let loose a nice stack of free loot for dedicated gamers.
Game Informer is reporting that anyone who logs into Overwatch over the Christmas holiday will receive a message from Blizzard informing them that they have received five free loot boxes. This ties into the current Winter Wonderland event running in Overwatch from the middle of December up until January 2nd, next week for PC, PS4 and Xbox One gamers.
The Winter Wonderland event also features a new game mode for players to partake in, including a snowball fight mode featuring Mei, which might have some gamers recalling a similar mode that Rockstar Games introduced into Grand Theft Auto V's online mode a while back.
But if you need more from your loot than just throwing snowballs at people, Blizzard also added some new skins to the game for select characters, including a green elf outfit for Tracer, a black and teal jumpsuit for Lucio, and two Santa Claus themed outfits for Mei and Torbjorn. They also have skins for Winston that turns him into a Yeti, a Nutcracker rendition of Zenyatta, a skin for the cowboy McCree that turns him into Scrooge, a Rudolf the Reindeer outfit for Roadhog, and a peppermint flavored skin for Sombra with an icy frostbite theme for Pharrah.
Not every character on the Overwatch roster was treated to a new Christmas-themed skin. Some of the characters were left out of the loop, but you might be able to earn some of the aforementioned skins for the other characters just by logging into the game each day leading up to January 2nd.
This event will also likely keep gamers coming back for opportunities to unlock epic loot in the game throughout holidays given that most people will be on vacation and fans of Overwatch will more than likely want to earn all of the extra goodies that they can before the event wraps up on January 2nd.
However, the exclusive Christmas skins aren't the only thing they've recently added to the Winter Wonderland event. There's also a complete makeover for some of the stages to take on a snowy, Christmas-themed motif, along with giving gamers an opportunity to battle it out and earn brand new sprays, a couple of holiday-themed emotes for the various characters, and all new victory poses designed to give you a little something extra to stay in the festive spirit.

There is a downside to this, though: all of these special items will only be available during the limited Winter Wonderland event in Overwatch. This means that you won't be able to pick these new skins, emotes, sprays and poses up from loot boxes after January 2nd rolls around. So you better start logging in and looting quick before next Monday.
It's best to enjoy what they have made available for gamers, for free, while it lasts. Besides it won't be long before the snow starts to melt and you'll be forced to enjoy the bright sunny rays of spring and summer. The Winter Wonderland event for Overwatch is currently going on right now for PC, PS4 and Xbox One gamers.
