Final Fantasy XV's Moogle Chocobo Carnival Begins Today, Get The Details
Square Enix is continuing to promote Final Fantasy XV following the game's blockbuster release last holiday season for PS4 and Xbox One. They're moving millions of copies and the game is one of the largest yet. Well, the celebration continues with the new Moogle Chocobo Carnival, and it begins today.
The promotional video for the carnival was recently posted up over on the Final Fantasy YouTube channel. The video covers a minute and a half of the content featured in the free update, while the description box below explains how you attend the special event.
Starting today, January 23, in North America gamers can attend the Moogle Chocobo Carnival in Final Fantasy XV. You'll need a carnival pass, which is only available in the Holiday DLC pack. Thankfully the Holiday DLC pack is free. You can get your hands on it for the Xbox One from the Xbox Store, or you can get your hands on it for the PlayStation 4 from the PlayStation Store.
If you already own the Season Pass and you have the premium version of the Holiday DLC pack, or you bought the premium version of the Holiday DLC pack, then you're already set and you won't have to download it. Inside the pack is the Carnival Passport that you can use to teleport you to the event.
The event takes place in Altissia, the place that Noctis and his crew were attempting to get to throughout the first half of the game. They don't say if you'll need to have already beaten the game to access the Moogle Chocobo Carnival in Final Fantasy XV, but I would assume that's a standard requirement since it wouldn't make sense for people to be able to teleport to Altissia if they haven't reached it yet in their part of the story.
The Moogle Chocobo Carnival features a completely decked out Altissia, featuring lots of festival decorations and an equally festive mood amongst the residents. Noctis will receive a free Chocobo outfit, as featured in the trailer, and he'll be able to participate in various mini-games.
The Chocobo mini-game race from the standard version of Final Fantasy XV will be featured at the carnival, only this time you'll have to barrel through an obstacle course and avoid falling into the water.

There's a shooting mini-game where players will have to knock down all of the targets with a gun within a set time limit, and there are a few edible treats that can be acquired from vendors featuring Chocobo and Moogle-themed sweets.
In addition to all of that, there are some photo opportunities that Noctis can take with various mascots, as well as some dancing events that are sure to get players to smile and laugh a bit.
Final Fantasy XV's special event will only be available for a limited time. It's open starting today in North America after 5PM PST, but if you're outside of America you'll have to wait until January 24, tomorrow, to partake in the event in Japan or Europe.
