Wait, Is Emma Stone In Death Stranding?
Hideo Kojima and the rest of Kojima Production is hard at work on the upcoming PS4 title, Death Stranding. The new game is currently set to star Norman Reedus and Mads Mikkelsen, along with a guest appearance from Guillermo Del Toro. However, there may be another big star to appear in the game... Emma Stone.
According to Gamerant, Mads Mikkelsen was asked at a Saudi Comic Con event this year if the rumors were true that award-winning actress Emma Stone would be starring in Death Stranding. Well, Mikkelsen responded by saying that...
Mikkelsen was keeping it mum, but the chatter has been swelling around the internet based on a few clues thrown out across the great expanse of social media.
The thing is, this isn't some backwoods internet rumor from a niche forum on the underside of the dark web. The rumor actually started because of Death Stranding director Hideo Kojima.
They explain in the article that Kojima tweeted out a mannequin wearing a beanie from Lionsgate. The mannequin had a motion capture suit on. So, what was the significance of the beanie? Well, Lionsgate is the parent company of Summit Entertainment. So, what's the significance of Lionsgate being the parent company of Summit Entertainment? Well, they're the company that produced La La Land. And in case you weren't aware, Emma Stone stars in La La Land.
I know, I know, it's a really huge stretch. However, keep in mind that a similar thing happened with Mads Mikkelsen. Hideo Kojima teased an image of a man in a studio with an orange sweat jacket on; you couldn't see the man's face. Another person on Instagram posted up an image they took with Mads Mikkelsen wearing an orange sweat jacket, saying that he was in town for something game related. Internet sleuths quickly began piecing together the tidbits of information and discovered that Mads Mikkelsen would be starring in Death Stranding.
Kojima kept mum about it up until The Game Awards, where a new trailer was unveiled and we finally got to see Mads in the actual game.

So, is it possible that we could see Emma Stone in Death Stranding? Well, to be completely honest, I would personally think it unlikely.
She's just come off of a huge success in La La Land and she's probably getting tons of offers from all sorts of massive, big budget projects in Hollywood. As big as Hideo Kojima is in the world of gaming, he doesn't quite carry that same level of clout in Hollywood. That's not to mention that working on a game can be extremely intensive work, with years going into the performance capture process.
The big question becomes: would Emma Stone really give up some other potential Hollywood projects to work on something like Death Stranding? I don't know, it's a complete toss up, but it's not outside the realm of possibility. I mean, Kojima did manage to get Kiefer Sutherland to play Venom Snake in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, so I suppose anything is possible.
