Uncharted 4 Owned The SXSW Game Awards
With South by Southwest (SXSW) finally wrapping up, it's time to take a look at the various awards presented in the area of video games. There was a nice bit of variety in this year's selection but, in the end, Nathan Drake's final outing in Uncharted 4 pretty much stole the show.
This year marked the fourth iteration of the SXSW Video Game Awards presentation, with Naughty Dog's latest offering bringing home quite a bit of hardware once all of the winners had been announced. In total, 23 awards were presented in areas we've come to expect, including sound design, animation, multiplayer, best mobile game and, yep, Video Game of the Year. Of those categories, Uncharted 4 won quite a few honors. Along with its Game of the Year nod, the PlayStation 4 exclusive also earned big wins in areas such as Excellence in Visual Achievement, Excellence in Animation, Most Memorable Character and Excellence in Narrative.
If you've been following the video game awards circuit, the SXSW showing is one of the few places that Overwatch didn't take home the top prize. As noted by GameInformer, it claimed wins in the area of Trending Game of the Year and eSports Game of the Year, but the SXSW judges panel was apparently looking for something different in their game of the year winner.
Here's a rundown of all of this year's SXSW winners.
