Watch Catwoman Beat Up The Gotham City Sirens In New Injustice 2 Video
NetherRealm Studios dropped a new trailer for Injustice 2, this time hinting at one of the popular side-stories in the DC Universe centering around the Gotham City Sirens. There's a bit of fourth wall breaking from Harley Quinn as she acknowledges the group when Catwoman leaps into action.
The trailer was posted up over on the official Injustice YouTube channel, sporting some fast-paced combat from the fighting feline anti-villain. There's a brief comment about Catwoman being part of the Gotham City Sirens, which is funny given that there's supposedly a movie in the works based on the squad of femme fatales. Catwoman quickly dismisses this comment from Harley, and proceeds to beat up the rest of the Sirens in the gameplay video.
As for the gameplay... her combos look fantastic. She mixes in uses of her agility and pouncy pummeling attacks with other specials, such as calling in her cat Isis as a delayed long-range attack. The interesting thing about Catwoman in Injustice 2 is that Isis can be used to setup a combo or completely throw opponents off their game since she doesn't run in right away, and she isn't very fast. I imagine anyone using Catwoman on the tournament scene will absolutely want to center their combo game around either starting with Isis or setting up a way to restart a combo after calling in Isis.
It's such a smart looking special maneuver that seems to house many uses. Catwoman also seems to make seamless use of many of the stage properties scattered around the levels in Injustice 2. I was shocked to see how fluidly she seems to move from one area to the next and incorporate the stage hazards into her moveset without any hesitation. Not many characters are capable of doing that based on the way their combos are designed.
As for her super special; it's great. It looks fantastic. The ending with the motorcycle exploding on opponents while she poses is almost like identical to the scene from The Matrix Reloaded where Trinity drives toward the building in that end sequence and launches the motorcycle into the guard station, causing a rippling explosion to echo throughout the parking area. It's impossible to miss the reference in how Catwoman uses the motorcycle, but it looks so freaking cool, nonetheless.
As far as her look and design is concerned, it seems to be a modification of the suit made popular by Rocksteady in the Batman: Arkham games. It's crazy to me how much influence Rocksteady has had on the DC pop-culture universe and how so many other mediums are copying their designs.
For instance, Catwoman in Injustice 2 is using the similar S&M leather getup that Catwoman sported in Batman: Arkham City. The chest-piece zipper with the high collar is replaced with an open-cleavage bustier. It's a far cry from her more tactical espionage outfit from the original Injustice.

It's also funny because Batman in Injustice 2 has a similar mechanized armored outfit to the one that was featured in Batman: Arkham Knight.
No complaints, here, though.
Not everyone is on board with the design, but most people seem to love her moveset. It's true that her moves perfectly match exactly what you would have expected from Catwoman. You can look to play the Gotham City Siren come May 16th.
