Activision is rethinking their 2007 purchase of Liverpool studio Bizarre Creations. They're considering selling the Blur developer.
"Over the past three years since our purchase of Bizarre Creations, the fundamentals of the racing genre have changed significantly. Although we made a substantial investment in creating a new IP, Blur, it did not find a commercial audience," an Activision rep told IndustryGamers. "Bizarre is a very talented team of developers, however, because of the broader economic factors impacting the market, we are exploring our options regarding the future of the studio, including a potential sale of the business."
If I could play matchmaker for a second: Microsoft is currently looking to revive Project Gotham Racing, the street racer series created by Bizarre. Maybe they'll jump at the chance to get the original developer to handle the reboot?
