Alien Rage Coming To Xbox 360, PS3, PC
City Interactive Games is prepping for the upcoming release of their action-shooter, Alien Rage. The game puts players in the role of the tried and trusty space marine, fighting through hordes of the deadly, cybernetically enhanced aliens.
The new shooter will center around visually weighty designs and shooting mechanics that make the most out of today's unbelievably aged and decrepit home consoles. The dinosaurs certainly have their work cut out for them because Alien Rage looks pretty good, visually, and the game will have a strong focus on destructible environments that can help change the landscape of a fight.
The game will release with 14 playable levels, a variety of enemies that range from infantry soldiers, heavily armored warriors, flying drones, spiders and more. In one of the teaser videos you can see that there are some big boss fights available as well. The thing is, we don't actually see how the boss fights play out or whether or not players will have to utilize some special tactics to take them down... it could either be a bullet-sponge fest or something along the lines of Metal Gear where you have to do some complicated running around, puzzle-type stuff to deal with them.
Anyway, for the game to be on a low budget it looks pretty good. It's like a mix of Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, Unreal and Gears of War, with a little bit of Resistance: Fall of Man thrown in for good measure.
The game also prides itself on “skill shots”, as players will be heavily rewarded for landing headshots, trick-shots and precision shots against certain enemies. It hasn't been fully showcased if it's going to be anything like Bulletstorm, but a little weapon variety and shooting rewards never hurts.
Alien Rage doesn't have a release date yet and there isn't a whole lot of info out on the game. It will be scheduled to appear on the Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and, presumably, Steam for PC.
You can drop by the official website to learn even less or check out a few of the images of the game below. Man, I sure hope this doesn't turn out like Ride to Hell: Retribution.
