Aliens: Colonial Marines's multiplayer won't be limited to simple deathmatches. Today Gearbox and Sega revealed an Escape mode that will pit a four-player Colonial Marines team against a quartet of Xenomorph players.
In an Escape match, the Marines team must race to an extraction point. The Xenomorph team will try to kill them before they can escape. Xeno players will have three creature types to choose from - soldier, lurker and spitter - with unique abilities to assist in the hunt.
I've always had a soft spot for asymmetrical multiplayer like this. Playing as a Marine will be a completely different experience than playing as a Xenomorph. It's almost like getting two modes in one.
Colonial Marines will launch on February 12th. Sega and Gearbox will probably roll out another online mode or two in the months ahead.
