Amazon.com, aspiring to be the site that can sell you ANYTHING, has just jumped into the digital games business. The new Digital Games section of their website has over 600 downloadable games to purchase.
The service, currently in beta, requires a 3MB client to use. Move over, Steam? Not quite. Right now, its offerings are casual fare for $10 or less. However, Greg Hart, Amazon's vice president of video games and software, told Joystiq that they may expand into bigger releases depending on how the beta goes.
For the game's first week, the following three games are available to download for free: puzzle game Jewel Quest II, house-building sim Build-a-lot, and object-finding game The Scruffers.
