Among The Sleep is a PC, Mac, and Linux survival horror game with an interesting twist: it stars a two-year old child. In order to make this interesting premise into an actual game, though, Krillbite Studio needs your help.
The child is searching for his family and must explore a darkened home to find them. Because the main character is a toddler, players won't be able to resort to combat. Instead, they have to avoid whatever dangers they encounter. The player has to find a hiding spot, such as a cabinet or closet.
"We've done a lot of experimenting with environmental interaction, so for instance you’ll be able to push, pull and climb objects to reach places, open and close doors, make a staircase out of drawers, peek around corners, carry and place small objects, and the list goes on," Krillbite said on the game's Kickstarter page.
The first-person perspective seems like it would be a good fit for the Oculus Rift. The Oculus Rift, a virtual reality headset, started out as a Kickstarter project as well. Krillbite says that they're currently "looking into" Rift support.
The studio is seeking $200,000 through Kickstarter in order to complete Among The Sleep. They've earned a little over $46,000 thus far. The fundraising drive will end on May 18th.
