This week, Warner Bros. Interactive revealed that the PC version of Batman: Arkham City was delayed into November. Game director Sefton Hill says that the PC edition will be worth the extra wait, though.
"If you do have a super powerful high-end PC, you are going to see higher detail textures. You are going to see a more richly realised world," Hill told Eurogamer. "But having said that, given there are so many console gamers in there, we're always fine-tuning to get the game to run super smooth on Xbox and PS3. The console versions look great as well."
"All of the source textures and assets are done at a very very high res and we make them work on all the different SKUs. People will really love the PC version when it comes out. The wait will definitely be worth it. The PC version has just been pushed back, but it's only by a couple of weeks, so hopefully no-one will be too upset about it. We're working as hard as we can to get it out as soon as we can."
The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are due on October 18th in North America. When WB announced the delay to the PC edition, they didn't provide a specific release date. Hill's mention of "a couple of weeks" suggests that PC gamers will be able to get it in the first week or so of November.
The PC version of multiplatform games is sometimes the red-headed stepchild. Still, Rocksteady did pretty well with the PC iteration of Arkham Asylum, the predecessor to City. It was actually the highest-rated PC game on GameRankings in 2009.
