Today Ubisoft decided to confirm what we already know: Assassin's Creed 3 is set during the American Revolution. They've released the official box art for the game, providing us with a good look at the new protagonist.
The new hero, name currently unknown, wears a white hooded outfit like his predecessors Altair and Ezio. He's also got leather bracers on, which presumably hide retractable blades. His arsenal is all new, though: he's wielding a tomahawk, flintlock pistol and bow.
In the box art, our hero is about to finish off a British soldier. A battle rages behind him. This is confirmation that he's a revolutionary, I suppose. Did anyone really think he'd be working for the British, though?
Ubisoft says that they'll announce further details on AC3 on March 5th. Game Informer will run a 13-page preview of the game in their next issue as well. A few images of the cover art from that issue, along with the packshots, are below.
AC3 will be released on October 30th.
