Assassin's Creed 4's downloadable content will center around a new playable character called Adewale. This DLC will be available as part of a Season Pass outed by Best Buy.
AC4 stars pirate Edward Kenway, captain of the Jackdaw. Adewale serves as his first mate on the ship. The Season Pass DLC is said to chronicle Adewale's untold adventures during the Golden Age of Piracy. This makes me think we're going to see a lot of moments like this in the main campaign:
EDWARD KENWAY: Set sail for Tortuga, Adewale!
[Edward turns, realizes Adewale isn't next to him.]
EDWARD: Adewale? [to crew] Has anyone seen Adewale? CREW MEMBER: Not since yesterday, Captain. [Adewale rides up to the ship on a dolphin's back, wearing a crown and carrying a bag of gold under one arm.]
ADEWALE: Sorry for being late, Captain. I'm ready to go.
EDWARD: Damn it, Adewale, where have you been? And where did you get that crown?

ADEWALE: It's a long story. [winks at camera]
The Adewale DLC sounds like it might be a mini-campaign, similar to the three-episode adventure Tyranny of King Washington for Assassin's Creed 3. If so, I might actually consider buying it. My interest in collections of random side missions is low. If I pay money for single-player DLC, I want a story arc to go along with it.
The Season Pass doesn't just enhance the single-player DLC. It apparently also adds unspecified multiplayer content and "new ways to personalize your pirate experience." Not really sure what the latter means. Maybe it's talking about new clothing options for multiplayer characters, or display options for your multiplayer profile.
Best Buy lists the Season Pass as $19.99. It's said to be $20 cheaper than buying the content packs individually. There's no mention of how many DLC packs are included, though. The AC3 Season Pass included five add-ons. However, that Pass was also $10 more expensive than AC4's.
This is the first time we've heard any details about the content of AC4's DLC. Ubisoft previously announced that the PS3 and PS4 versions will be getting exclusive add-ons. However, all we know about that exclusive content is that it's an hour's worth of gameplay.
Assassin's Creed 4 will debut in October on the Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U. The game will hit the PC a few weeks later. It's going to be a launch title for Xbox One and PS4 as well, whenever those consoles hit stores. The Season Pass is currently only available for pre-order on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC through Best Buy.
