The first trailer for Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag has arrived a couple days earlier than expected. The CGI trailer introduces Captain Edward Kenway, the main character of the new open-world assassination game.
Captain Edward Kenway is an English pirate and a member of the Assassin's Order. He's the grandfather of Assassin's Creed 3 protagonist Connor. Edward's a young man in this trailer, so this game is probably sent in the late 17th century or early 18th century.
In the trailer, Edward commands a pirate ship in the Caribbean. All the while, he performs his Assassin duties. Presumably he keeps that side of himself a secret from most of his crew. That could create some interesting storyline opportunities.
The end of the trailer confirms the previously leaked release date of October 29th. It also reveals that pre-ordering Black Flag through GameStop will earn you a special poster designed by comic book artist Todd McFarlane.
AC4 has been announced for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii U thus far. The trailer mentions it's coming to next-gen consoles as well.
