This fall Ubisoft plans to release Assassin's Creed 3 and the PS Vita title Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation. However, it seems they've got enough free time to plot another project as well, called Assassin's Creed Initiates.
The company filed a dozen domain registrations this past week, according to Fusible. Each domain they grabbed contained the words "Assassin's Creed Initiate" or "Assassin's Creed Initiates."
The name sounds like some sort of membership program to my ear. As in, "sign up now to become an Assassin's Creed initiate." A question remains, though: what's an Assassin's Creed initiate?
A report from last month might provide the answer. A leaked letter to GameStop employees revealed that AC3 would be receiving "post-launch" episodic content. It's possible that they'll sell a Season Pass so players can purchase access to all episodes at once. Maybe Assassin's Creed Initiates is the name of said Season Pass?
It's also entirely possible that this is some other work completely. For example, it might be a mobile or social game. The fact that the title doesn't have a "3" in it suggests that, if it's a game, it probably isn't a direct tie-in to AC3. This is all just complete guess-work, though, until Ubisoft actually announces something.
