Autodesk 3DS Max 2013 Gets Mixamo Mo-Cap Store
Animation and character design just got a heck of a lot easier now that Mixamo is offering a brand new in-program store right from the comfort of Autodesk 3DS Max 2013. This means you can browse numerous motion-capture animations right from the tool screen.
For those that don't know, Mixamo has started a microtransaction business for animations and rigging. You can rig characters on the fly using their new auto-rigging tool set, as well as pick and choose from a near countless amount of predefined and pre-animated sequences and movements for characters or avatars of varying shapes and sizes.
The latest update brought to you by Mixamo enables developers, character designers and enthusiasts alike to quickly and efficiently purchase characters and hundreds of animations from the microtransaction store conveniently located within Autodesk 3DS Max. You can even check out a quick preview of how the store works and what sort of animations are available from Mixamo.
The real highlight of that is just how easy it is to slap an animation onto a character. I mean, wow, technology has really spurred on ahead. I remember back in the late 90s and early 2000s designing characters was never this easy and setting up rigs was a very time-consuming endeavor that could range from hours (for simple characters) to days (for more complex characters).
At this junction designers can just browse through a series of awesome, fully animated sequences and hook their character up right from out of the tool box window, complete with previews. Very cool...or as one Tweeter said, "This is beast".
You can learn more about the new Mixamo mo-cap store and animation suite by paying a visit to the Official Mixamo Website.
