Batman: Arkham Origins Trailer Features Combat, Gadgets, Stealth
A new video montage of various moments of gameplay from the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins has been released, featuring Batman doing what he does best, including a little bit of detective work, some hand-to-hand brawling, some use of his gadgets and a lot of stealth.
The new video comes courtesy of German gaming site PCGames.de, where two dudes and a Batman went on a vigilante spree, beating the mess out of unfortunate criminals and climbing around on fiery bridges just like any other normal superhero.
The video focuses heavily on the wide variety of gameplay types, including being able to see set Bat-charges, throw Bat-a-rangs and use the Bat-grappling hook to snap bad guys together like Rico Rodriguez from Just Cause 2.
In addition to seeing Bats work around the levels with his hacking and his stealth, we eventually get to see him in action, beating up multiple baddies at one time using the fighting system that many people have fallen in love with. While the fighting controls are almost too simplified for my tastes, it does provide a nice cinematic edge to fights that could have otherwise become very dull, very quickly.
The video ends with a brief appearance by Firefly, as it helps explain why the bridge was all fiery and melted. Exactly what the context of the fiery bridge was all about is something you'll only be able to understand once you play the game. But we at least know that Batman will be channeling his inner Burning Ranger at some point.
Arkham Origins takes place several years before the events of Arkham Asylum and features many of the big name villains and side-characters from the Batman mythos, including an alive and well Joker. Some of the other villains include Bane, the recently revealed Firefly, Black Mask and Deathstroke to name but a few.
You can look for the game to launch in late October for current-gen consoles, Wii U and PC, competing directly with Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed IV (that should be an interesting bout). For more information on the game feel free to pay a visit to the official website.
