Battlefield 3, Summer Sales Storm PlayStation Plus Today
The PlayStation Plus offerings for July have been announced, starting with today's latest addition to the Instant Game Collection, Battlefield 3. There's also a bunch of nice sales you'll want to take a gander at, too.
That wasn't a typo. One of the most successful first-person shooter series in the world's latest offering is being made available on PlayStation Plus this afternoon, offering the entire single player campaign and all of that wonderful multiplayer action of Battlefield 3at no additional charge.
PlayStation Plus has been on a roll in the AAA department lately, offering such titles as Sleeping Dogs and Deus Ex: Human Revolution in recent months, alongside the usual assortment of PSN games, PSP/Vita titles and, of course, various discounts. Now Sony is upping the ante, bringing one of the most core of franchises on the market to the masses free of charge.
But that's only the first of four planned free games this month. Later in July, gamers will gain access to various other titles including Metal Slug XX for the PSP and Vita, the PS3 version of Jet Set Radio (looking oh-so-sexy in its HD makeup), the wonderful chalk-art platform puzzler for Vita, Dokuro, and the PSN HD-ification of Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. No word yet in what the order of those future releases will be, but you can start playing Battlefield 3 this very afternoon as soon as the PlayStation Store weekly update goes live.
Complementing this week's free game will be 10 titles included in the Summer Blast 2013 promotion, offering a handful of games at a discount for everyone and an even deeper discount for Plus subscribers. If all of the games listed above aren't enough to keep you busy through the hottest month of the year, then maybe you'll be interested in picking up one of the following. Since this is the PS Plus update we're talking about, that particular discounted price will be the one listed after each title. These prices are good for one week only.
