Mythic Entertainment revealed today that EA is forming a new MMO/RPG unit within its company. The new unit will bring together Mythic and BioWare.
BioWare co-founder and general manager Ray Muzyka will become Group General Manager of this new unit. BioWare co-founder and vice president Greg Zeschuk will be the Group Creative Director. BioWare's studios will continue to report to Muzyka, however now Mythic Entertainment's General Manager will report to him as well. In a possibly related bit of news, Mythic GM Marc Jacobs has left the company and will be replaced in the role by Chief Operating Officer Rob Denton.
Mythic broke the news on the official Warhammer Online website. EA hasn't sent out an official press release about this restructuring yet so we don't know what name, if any, this new EA unit will go by. The exact point of this whole endeavor isn't clear yet, either.
This bit of organizational news might seem irrelevant to the average gamer as it doesn't sound like either company will be altered immediately. One takeaway, though, is that EA's got a lot of faith in the BioWare guys.
