Broken Sword 5: The Serpent's Curse Launches Today On Steam, GOG
Mystery and adventure abound on Steam and Good Old Games (GOG) this week as Revolution finally releases Broken Sword 5-The Serpent’s Curse: Episode One for PC, Mac and Linux.
Following a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, Broken Sword 5 was originally planned as a single piece of electronic entertainment. The studio had so much story to tell (as well as quite a hefty chunk of change to spend) that they decided to double down on their efforts, recently announcing that the game would be arriving as two separate episodes, each one weighing in with enough content to be considered its own game. You can buy both chapters for $24.99 and dive into the first half of the story starting today on Steam or Gog. Early next year, the cliffhanger ending will be resolved when Chapter Two finally arrives.
For fans of classic adventure games, Broken Sword 5 returns to the series’ roots as a point and click affair, reuniting key members of the original Broken Sword team to further strengthen that nostalgic edge.
“This has been a labor of love not just for us here at Revolution, but the entire Broken Sword community, too,” said Revolution founder Charles Cecil. “We have been privileged to be able to make the game we’ve wanted to thanks to the generous support of our Kickstarter supporters, who really have given us the freedom to take the series to new heights.”
In The Serpent’s Curse, protagonists George Stobbart and Nico Collard are brought in to help solve the mystery of a stolen painting. One mystery leads to the next as the duo wind up hopping around the globe to uncover a massive conspiracy and save a few lives in the process.
“But this is only the beginning. We’ve a concluding episode due early next year which will complete the story of what I hope will be seen as our most ambitious Broken Sword game ever,” Cecil continued. “We’re really excited to finally unveil the start of George and Nico’s greatest adventure.”
If you’re just as excited to dip into The Serpent’s Curse, then you can grab the game now via GOG or Steam for 25 bucks. Once Chapter Two launches in 2014, you’ll be able to download it instantly and jump back into the story.
