The Wii U has nabbed another big multiplatform game for its launch lineup. The latest issue of Nintendo Gamer reveals that Nintendo's new console will be getting its own version of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
The article's header mentions that the Wii U Black Ops 2 will be arriving in November. That would mean it's launching around the same time as the other versions of the game. Ideally it would arrive on the exact same day as those other versions, so Activision can pour all of its energy into hyping one date. However, the Wii U version's release date obviously depends on the Wii U's own launch date, which Nintendo has yet to disclose.
The body of the Nintendo Gamer piece simply provides an overview of Black Ops 2. It provides no details on the unique features the Wii U version will have. The article simply says that this information "is a story for next issue."
During their E3 press conference last week, Nintendo showed a video of some of the third-party games coming to the console but didn't mention Black Ops 2 at all. They obviously knew at that point that a Wii U Black Ops 2 was in development. Nintendo's trying to pitch the Wii U as being a hardcore-friendly system, so why not announce the fact that the best-selling shooter series around is coming to the console? It seems like a real mistake.
Black Ops 2 will launch on the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Wii on November 13th.
