Today 2K Games announced that they'll be re-releasing the grand strategy game Sid Meier's Civilization V. The Civilization V Game of the Year Edition will be available through digital retailers and brick-and-mortar shops on September 27th throughout North America.
The Game of the Year Edition comes with a copy of Civ V as well as the following extras:
- Civilization and Scenario Pack: The Mongols
- Civilization Pack: Babylon
- Cradle of Civilization Map Packs: Mesopotamia, Americas, Asia and Mediterranean
- Double Civilization and Scenario Pack: Spain and Inca
- Civilization and Scenario Pack: Polynesia
- Civilization and Scenario Pack: Denmark - The Vikings
- Explorer's Map Pack
- Sid Meier's Civilization V digital soundtrack.
The bundle is priced at $49.99. Civilization V generally costs $29.99 by itself, and the full complement of DLC costs about the same. The GOTY edition is a pretty good value, then.
In Civilization V, players guide a civilization from the dawn of time until the space age. As in previous games in the series, Civ V offers players numerous paths to victory. For example, you can crush all of your opponents with your military, convince them to appoint you global leader, or be the first to launch a spaceship.
Civ V makes a number of changes to the classic formula. For example, the new hexagonal grid map and addition of ranged bombardment complicate battles between civilizations even further. City-states, smaller and non-playable civilizations throughout the world, will help or hinder your quest for global domination. Additionally, civilizations can now join together to conduct joint research ventures.
