The PC version footage for Battlefield 3 looks pretty absurd. Many are wondering how the game will perform consoles, though. This weekend DICE rendering architect Johan Andersson gave some details on what to expect for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
Andersson ( via Develop) said that the console BF3 will run at 30 frames per second. Resolution is capped at 720p. He added via Twitter that "99.9% of PS3 and Xbox 360 games are 720p, and a lot of them, including Modern Warfare 2 run way lower than that."
"We think huge levels, lots of players, great effects, destruction, vehicles and varied gameplay is more important than 1080p,” said Andersson. “We always do 30 frames per second on consoles, otherwise it wouldn’t be possible to fit in vehicles, effects, scale and all players."
BF3 will arrive on consoles and the PC on October 25th in North America and October 28th in Europe. Expect to read a lot of "screenshot comparison" stories between now and then.
