It's hard to believe that it's that time of the year again where the biggest, brightest and coolest game trailers released throughout the year get compiled together in a nice juicy list and rated on just how cool they really are.
There are eight categories spanning story trailers, or the coolest trailers that help explain the premise and storyline of the game. Cinematic trailers, which are classified as trailers composed mostly of non-in-engine footage. Debut trailers, which are solely trailers to help announce or shed light on the game's announcement. Gameplay trailers are composed mostly of in-game or in-engine footage and these are ranked on how cool that footage looks. Tradeshow trailers are usually trailers composed of gameplay and cinematics and are specifically released during a tradeshow to show off how cool a game is. Live-action trailers are sometimes composed of live actors or settings fused with the game, or entirely composed of live-action footage and how cool it all comes together as well as how pertinent the footage is to the game. Launch trailers are the bread and butter of trailers and a cool launch trailer can sometimes make or break a gamer's perception on whether they want to play the game or not.
