Coolest Launch Trailer Of 2010: Final Fantasy XIV
Ah, the coveted launch trailer; the pinnacle of a game's promotional prowess. When a company unleashes the official launch trailer for a game it means that this is what they want people to think about when contemplating whether or not to buy the game. The action usually reflects a collage of snippets containing some of the most intense or cinematic experiences in the game, while the music in some regards is aimed to inflect a sense of anticipation or emotion to fuel the gamer’s interest even further. As you all know, there can be only one victor as the coolest launch trailer of the year, and the launch category goes to the Square Enix behemoth, Final Fantasy XIV.
Now before the fanboys throw in their two cents about Mass Effect 2, God of War 3, or the latest Diner Dash game, just remember that this specific category isn’t just about creativity or action, but a collaboration of everything to get gamers in the mood to play the game. With that said, no other launch trailer this year was as epic, action packed, emotionally fueled or as long as Square’s Final Fantasy XIV trailer. And I might be inclined to say that “epic” is too soft a word for the visually propitious and grand-scale story-telling launch trailer for the game. It’s kind of sad, though, because Final Fantasy XIV bombed when it came to actual gameplay quality. It’s just too bad the game itself wasn’t as cool as the launch trailer.
Nevertheless, this game’s launch trailer will go down in the history books as one of the very best and it’s available below for naysayers and doubters to jaw-drop their way through all seven…yes, seven minutes of it. Enjoy.
