Crysis 3 Announcement Arriving April 16th
EA and Crytek aren't done with the multiplatform sci-fi shooter, Crysis. The third game in the series is expected to be announced next Monday, according to a few reports and EA's own Origin service.
The news comes courtesy of Best Games Network, which also nabbed a few screens for proof of verification. They managed to grab the screenshots from Origin which supposedly "flubbed" and listed the game's Limited Edition which will sell digitally for $49.99. That price seems a little unlikely given that big-budget games released digitally via Origin always carry the $59.99 price (or higher). I also tend to doubt someone at Origin tripped over a cord and by mistake listed Crysis 3.
This "leak" feels a bit deliberate and rather forced, especially considering that shortly after this news made it to the interwebs, conveniently enough Game Informer was provided with an official press statement from EA, saying...
Yeah, leak my foot. Crytek already pre-announced back in March that an announcement would be arriving soon. So, it's quite obvious what it is now.
So we at least know that Crysis 3 will be announced on April 16th. The second game was one of the most pirated titles of 2011 so it either means a lot of PC gamers were pissed about the second game being multiplatform and pirated it, or they didn't trust EA and pirated it, either way there was a lot of pirating going on for Crysis 2. I'm curious what Crytek and EA will do this time around to prevent that from happening.
