This Custom Star Wars Xbox One Mimics BB-8's Speech, See The Video

Eddie Zarick, maker of the custom and decently portable Xbook One laptop, decided to celebrate the recent Star Wars Day with a new project. The guy created a special version of his portable home console themed after BB-8, complete with realistic sounds.

Zarick is clearly a movie lover, what with a “Theatre” sign on his entertainment console, a lit-up Iron-Man in the background and a Universal chest serving as the base of his coffee table. It makes sense, then, that he’d be a fan of the seventh film in the Star Wars series, The Force Awakens. And like most folks who liked that movie, Zarick was a big fan of the movie’s robotic companion, BB-8.

To celebrate that fandom, Zarick customized an Xbook One, which is itself a customized version of the Xbox One. Basically, his company at Ed’s Junk will make Microsoft’s newest home console somewhat portable for you, dropping it into a more compact casing with a flip-up screen. If you’re doing a lot of traveling and don’t mind hauling something so large around with you, it actually appears to be a pretty decent solution to gaming on the go.

In the video, Zarick also shows off his R2-D2 PlayBook 4, which is a similar product that, you guessed it, is intended to be a portable PlayStation 4.

Zarick goes on to explain that the Xbook One is, for all intents and purposes, an Xbox One. It plays all the same games as the standard console, has wireless and wired connectivity and can be plugged into your TV rather than utilizing the built-in screen. The only real differences, outside of that built-in screen, are the BB-8 paint job and the BB-8 noises the console makes when you press a button. Speaking of that screen, it’s 22 inches and 1080p and, coupled with the built-in audio, literally gives you the ability to play games like Halo, Gears of War or Star Wars Battlefront wherever you can find an outlet.

There’s no word yet on if Zarick plans on selling this BB-8 version of the console, but we’re guessing it will bear a hefty price tag if he does. His standard Xbook One goes for $1,195, and that doesn’t include the custom skin or BB-8 sounds. It should also be noted that the price above is a starting off point where you’d also need to provide your own Xbox One to begin the process.

Either way, this is certainly a nifty project and we look forward to seeing even more custom machines from Zarick, even if we can’t afford them. Let us know your thoughts in the comments below. For starters, what property would you like to see bolted onto an Xbook theme next?
