D4 Won't Be An Xbox One Exclusive For Much Longer
Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro, the developer behind D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die, confirmed that the quirky adventure game D4 is making the leap from the Xbox One to PC. The game will no longer be exclusive to Microsoft's console and some of its features are being overhauled for the leap onto PC.

Over on the official D4 game website there's a list of the differences between the Xbox and PC version of the game, with the most major changes being the Kinect motion gestures being deferred to mouse swipes.
There are now grab, push, direction and hand cursor controls instead of native gestures that would naturally rely on the Kinect. Also, you'll no longer have to scream into the mic for some commands, but instead these commands will be changed into something more manageable for gamers without a headset.
One of the other big changes is that all of the Xbox One's DLC that was made available through the store will be included as part of the base package in the PC version of D4. This means that all of the various costumes and cosmetic accoutrements that helped add some flair and distinction to the characters in the game can be acquired by simply playing through the title.
Interestingly enough, some of the other features of the game have also been greatly altered, including the QTE segments. For better or for worse remains to be seen, but I can't help but feel that some of the game's life and design ingenuity is lost slightly when the controls relying on Kinect integration are taken out to be replaced with basic mouse or keyboard controls.
There are some other unique features added to the PC version as well, including some nifty graphics options such as being able to modify the resolution. This should put to bed any debates about 900p or 1080p because if your PC can handle it you'll be able to bump the resolution up without any problems.
Vsync has been added, along with the ability to turn on or turn off dynamic shadows. Subtitle language settings have been added and if your PC is beefy enough the game can be locked at 60fps. The team also fixed a few bugs, but also removed the Xbox One's leaderboard system.
But with the removal of one feature comes the addition of many others, including badges, Steam achievements, trading cards, emoticons, profile backgrounds and cloud saving.
Unfortunately, no release date has been set for the game just yet and a price for the PC version hasn't been announced but I imagine the details will arrive soon.
