Today 2K Games confirmed that The Darkness II is in development. The supernatural first-person shooter is scheduled to hit the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC this fall.
In D2, players once again step into the shoes of Jackie Estacado. He's a hitman and wielder of The Darkness, "an ancient and ruthless force of chaos and destruction." Gameplay revolves around a Quad-Wielding mechanic; Jackie can fire two guns while also using a pair of Demon Arms to decimate enemies.
Starbreeze Studios, the developer of the first Darkness, is not handling this project. Instead the game is being made at Digital Extremes. Digital Extremes is the outfit that developed BioShock 2's multiplayer and Dark Sector, among other games.
